Every Dollar Goes a Long Way in Africa

And with just $3000 we can begin developing the remainder of the 20 acres of land for the InTerraTree site. Please give what you can to help us build the ecovillage and education center in Togo, West Africa. Your contribution will go a long way in breaking ground on a new kind of development model - one that empowers communities and celebrates local culture.

Steps to Departure

As you embark upon your journey to InTerraTree, the following steps are meant to guide you along your way to a successful trip!

Please take a look.

Step 1: Submit Your Registration Form

Sign up for your trip to InTerraTree by heading to the registration form page on our website. Complete all of the fields, being sure to review our Volunteer Program Policies carefully prior to submitting your form. Please be aware that both your registration form and payment for the June InTerraTree Trip are due before the May 25, 2015 deadline. Please register early, as spaces are limited on our Rainy Season Mission. You will also need to ensure you have time to prepare and obtain to necessary immunizations, visas, passport, etc.

Step 2: Complete Payment

After submitting your registration form, check your email box for a message containing a link to pay your $800 USD trip fee. Deposits can be made by credit card, paid securely online via PayPal. Again, both your registration form and payment for the June InTerraTree Trip are due before the May 25, 2015 deadline.  Your space on the trip will not be reserved until full payment is submitted. Visit the Program Overview page to learn what the program fee covers.

Step 3: Book Your Flights and Notify the InTerraTree Team

We ask participants to schedule their arrival at the Lome International Airport on either June 8th or 9th. It is important that volunteers arrive within the same time window in order for us to travel as a group to the InTerraTree land, about a 3 hour journey from Lome. Participants are expected to depart on either June 23rd or 24th. Although you are welcome to stay as long as you like in Togo, understand that we will provide transportation from and to the airport on these dates only. Immediately after making your flight arrangements, please email the following information to volunteer@interratree.org: Arrival – City, Country; Date (MM/DD/YY); Time (include AM/PM); Airline; and Flight Number Departure – City, Country; Date (MM/DD/YY); Time (include AM/PM); Airline; and Flight Number

Step 5: Obtain Your Passport and Visa

Please check with your home country passport office for passport processing times prior to applying for your passport. We recommend applying for your passport approximately 3 months in advance. You will need a visa and a return flight to enter Togo. We strongly recommend that you apply for your visa in advance, as this can take 2-4 weeks to process depending on your country. Visit the website of the Togolese Embassy in your home country or a neighboring country to find out more information. If for some reason you can not apply for a visa in advance, it is possible to obtain a 7-day visa upon arrival at the Lome International Airport if you have a return or forwarding ticket out of Togo. We will then help you to obtain an extended visa in country. If you absolutely need to go this route please contact volunteer@interratree.org as soon as possible.

Step 6: Consult a Travel Physician for Immunizations

InTerraTree cannot give advice regarding immunizations or other travel medications. We strongly recommend that you consult a physician at a local travel clinic for this information.

Step 7: Review the Packing List and Other Information Provided

Shortly after your registration is complete we will send documents via email with relevant travel information, including a packing and recommended reading list. Please be sure to thoroughly read the information and be well prepared for your journey to Togo.

Step 13: Stay in Touch

Our volunteer coordinator is always available to answer any of your questions as you prepare. Just email volunteer@interratree.org We look forward to meeting you in Togo!
